Interested in scientific research? Looking for a comprehensive training program?

The YES for CURE Program is a two and a half year training initiative for highly motivated high school and undergraduate students interested in pursuing a career in scientific research. Through engagement in mentored summer research projects, participation in an advanced scientific curriculum during the academic year, and year-round professional skills training, students will acquire scientific knowledge and technical skills, and increase their understanding of how to conduct biomedical research. This initiative is funded through an R25 grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI CA221738).

Program Features:
·      Summer stipends
·      Opportunity to present research at local and/or national conferences
·      Orientation, scientific skills training, and professional development
·      Two summers of mentored cancer research experiences at Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center
·      Compose an abstract and deliver an oral/poster presentation of your research
·      Network with students in other research programs and research scientists
·      Journal club meetings focused on understanding scientific articles
·      Mentor middle school students in Boston Public Schools

Program Begins: February 2019

Eligibility
·      High school sophomore or junior or a college freshman or sophomore
·      Reside or attend school in Massachusetts
·      US citizen or permanent resident
·      At least 16 years old by June 17, 2019
·      In addition, must meet one of the following criteria:
o   Be from a racial or ethnic group considered underrepresented in the sciences (Blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans/Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.)
o   Be a first-generation college student
o   Be from an economically disadvantaged background
o   Show interest in pursuing a biomedical science or health-related career
o   Be able to commit to TWO AND A HALF YEARS of program participation
