ABOUT THE LEAH PROJECT
The LEAH
(Leaders through Education, Action and Hope) Project is a paid summer
internship program that trains and supports high school students, called LEAH
Mentors, to teach STEM lessons to elementary school students at out-of-school
time (OST) summer camp programs. It is a seven-week summer internship experience designed
to give Boston high school students exposure to STEM studies, introduction to computer coding, college
and job readiness skills, and near-peer leadership opportunities. Applications

Who Are LEAH Mentors:
· Boston
Public School (BPS) high school students (priority given to rising sophomores & juniors)
· Students
of color (Black/African American, Latino, Asian American, Native American,
Multi-Racial, etc.) and low-income students are encouraged to apply
What Do LEAH Mentors Do:
· Teach
STEM curricula to children (ages 5-10) at summer camps throughout Boston three
days a week
· Serve
as a role model to younger kids
· Attend
weekly meetings with LEAH staff to learn about professionalism and
communication, lesson planning, public speaking, and much more
· Attend
a weekly computer coding class (no prior coding knowledge necessary!)
· Meet
other high school students from across Boston and gain a support network
· Receive
college and career readiness support
· Attend
college tours and STEM-focused field trips
