Do you enjoy
working outside with your hands, spending time in nature and learning about the
environment? If so, the Youth Leadership Program is for you!
The Youth
Leadership Program is a workforce development program that enables high school
students from Boston and Brookline to become effective and reliable youth
leaders and employees through working in the Emerald Necklace Parks. The
program combines park maintenance, career exploration and environmental
education activities. From November through April, 10 youth crew members
meet after school for a total of 7.5 hours of part-time, temporary employment
each week.
Who is eligible
for the Youth Leadership program?
The program is
open to all who are:

of Boston

in high school

What do Youth
Leadership Participants do?
- Develop job skills through on the job training
- Receive training in park maintenance within the Emerald
Necklace parks
- Participate in hands-on earth/life science activities
and workshops
- Work in a crew of 10 other young adults
- Facilitate presentations on topics learned
- Participate in outdoor activities
- Participate in nature connection activities
- Have fun!
What is the
schedule?

Tuesdays,
Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 3:30 PM-6:00 PM
·
Participants
work a total of 7.5 hours per week
- The
first semester of the program is 4 weeks long and runs from Tuesday,
November 27-December 21.
- The
second semester of the program is 17 weeks longs and runs from January
2-April 26.
How
do I apply?
Interested students must contact their Career Specialist for the paper application.
The Deadline for the application is Friday October 19th. First come, first serve.
